Oh these are cooool

So I loved these, except for the Marie Antoinette one. I read the Marie Antoinette one before I knew who Marie Antoinette was (I was probably about 10). At the end of each of the books, they have a kind of “Historical Note,” something to fill you in on what these ladies actually did later in life. I read the whole Marie Antoinette book, where Marie Antoinette is a teenage protagonist, and then read the Historical Note, where they’re all, “Oh by the way, and then they put her in a cell above her children and so she could hear the screaming but didn’t see her and then they beheaded her and also she was actually a pretty horrible ruler and arguably not such a great human being either.”

It was something of a shock.
