Republican presidential candidate (and Iowa’s number two) RICK SANTORUM, who apparently thinks everyone who receives government assistance is African-American.

You have got to be kidding me. Okay, first of all, only about one third of TANF (one kind of cash welfare that goes to families with kids) recipients are black. Second, EVERYONE would prefer that folks have the opportunity to make money on their own. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but the economy’s gone to hell, and it’s not easy to get a job. It’s particularly not easy to get a job if you went to terrible schools, and you have to deal with gangs and guns everywhere you go, and when you have kids to support that you can’t leave when you go to an interview, and you can’t afford a nice outfit to where to an interview, and you have to rely on buses to get you there on time (which almost never works), and you have few marketable skills, and no access to the Internet to look for jobs, and no phone where employers can get ahold of you, and so on and so forth. Third, given that we can’t give every single unemployed person a job in the private sector by snapping our collective fingers (or really by any means), seems like letting people starve or sleep on the streets in the richest country in the world is the definition of heartlessness.

Congratulations, Santorum. In one sentence you managed to be heartless, racist, and wrong.
